Nike released the Air Max 720 ISPA ‘Black Reflective’ September 2019 with an updated build featuring design details borrowed from the outsoles of the Element React 85 and Element React 87. The rest of the upper is composed of rugged synthetic material and circular mesh windows for a mix of toughness and cooling ventilation. Under the foot, large-volume Max Air and more rubber nubs combine for a soft, bouncy ride and dependable impact protection and traction.
Releasing as part of the Swoosh’s ISPA line, which is short for “Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt”, the Air Max 720 ISPA Black is as stealthy as it gets. While branding is kept quite minimal here, the rest of the design is truly insane, with a synthetic upper, an asymmetrical tongue, and mesh circles for the ultimate breathing experience.
Taking in a multitude of inspiration, from outer space to the great outdoors (to even biology) it’s clear to see that these were made for exploration. Rugged outsoles, dual pulls and vibrant pops of color give the sneakers a hint of the brand’s ACG flair, while alien-esqe wavy uppers and amoeba-like patterns make the sneaker so extra. Like with most maximally designed shoes, it’s the over-the-top design ethos that draws you in — which has been a mainstay for the ISPA
